Employers usually ask for personal details whenever hiring for a specific job, as they believe that it will be useful during hiring process. Few people agree on this statement, while others say it is pointless. This essay agrees that one can get abundance of information from personal profile; such as a person’s ambitions, future plans, and his priorities in life.

Undoubtedly, resumes are incomplete without personal profile details, as it is one of its crucial part. Hobbies play a major role in everyone’s life. Besides relaxing one’s mind, they can give an idea about the person’s priorities in life. For instance, if someone is interested in reading, it shows that a person is committed to the books and perhaps the best candidate for a teaching post.

On the other hand, details about marriage and family are as noteworthy as other details. It shows how many dependents that person has, which in result, would give an idea how important this job is to a particular person. Furthermore, it is a prime information to get, whenever hiring a female candidate as by this information, one can foresee her future maternity leave plans.

On the contrary to this, few people argue that it is irrelevant to ask about personal life. Although these details are of utmost important, many people lie on these questions which make these questions purposeless. For example, many people spend their leisure time by doing nothing but sleep, while when it comes to the interview or a resume, they try to write something more sophisticated. So, in this situation personal details are futile, and only serve the purpose of misguiding the employer.

To conclude, I opine that details about one’s life are important to ask, and can surely give useful information. However, few people try to misguide the employer by lying, so at that point it is the responsibility of recruiters to judge and decide according to their experience.
