In some schools and universities girls often select arts subjects, for instance, literature, and boys often choose science subjects, such as physics. Why do you think this is so? Should this tendency be changed?

Girls select arts subjects because they think they can perform very well in these fields. Moreover, girls do such activities in their homes and have keen interests. While boys select science subjects as they think they can perform well in these fields, they like to do be scientist etc. I think this tendency should be changed because if they try, might they perform well in both fields.
